In Memoriam - Thomas W. Donovan
(August 8, 1953 - February 2, 2021) 

It is with our deepest regrets to announce the recent passing of Thomas W. Donovan, CPA, Principal at Marvin and Company, P.C., on February 2, 2021. 

Tom joined Marvin and Company in 1974 and became a director of the firm in 1984.  For over 45 years, Tom advised hundreds of Marvin and Company clients on a great variety of personal and business matters and assisted numerous individuals in buying and selling businesses. With his effective negotiations and structuring of transactions, clients maximized their positions and financial rewards.  Tom also dealt with many family-owned businesses and the challenges that families often bring to the table. 

Tom was a 1975 graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, New York and was active in the Capital District community. He was a past President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Capital Region. He was a member of the Ellis Hospital Board of Trustees.  

He loved his work.  He loved his clients.  And he loved Marvin’s employees.  He truly embodied the family feeling our company is known for.  Tom was making the transition from Marvin partner to full-time grandfather and he loved talking about his son Kevin, his daughter Colleen and their kids.  The excitement in his face every time he had a chance to bring them up in a story was evident.  Family meant so much to him and that’s why he always loved working at Marvin and Company 

We extend our sincere condolences to his family and will keep his wife Gail, kids Kevin and Colleen and his grandchildren in our hearts and prayers as they have truly lost a tremendous husband, father, and grandfather. 

Rest In Peace, we’ll miss you Tom.

Services for Tom will be private.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
